Description
The second wine from Chateau Clos de Bouard, Dame de Bouard, is a wine that is easy to drink but not lacking subtlety. The weather for the 2016 vintage – a remarkable year-plays a large hand in the expression of the quality of the plots selected for this second wine. The plots of land are mostly Cabernet Sauvignon, which gives the wine its body. Stunning for a second wine. The blend for Dame de Bouard 2016 is 60% Merlot, 30% Cabernet Franc and 10% Cabernet Sauvignon. The nose emits refreshing bouquets of ripe fruit, sweet spices and roasted herbs. In the mouth, the tannins are well-balanced with dominant fruit flavors. A very well-made wine. The vines are an average of 40 years old and hand-picked. Each plot was vinified seperately and then aged in French oak for 10-14 months in 30% new oak.
“Medium garnet-purple colored, the 2016 La Dame de Bouõrd sports lovely red and black cherries, warm plums and boysenberry scents with wafts of sassafras and underbrush. Medium-bodied with a pleasantly chewy texture and plenty of juicy red and black fruit in the mouth, it has an earthy finish.”
Ruth says ” Violets and plums with an elegant polished finish.”
