Description
Our Floresta Carmenere is a purple wine with an intense hue and good depth. It is a long and fresh concentrated wine. Fresh fruit dominates on the nose with aromas, such as blueberries, blackberries and floral notes of violets. it is a wine of a different aromatic complexity with mineral touches and soft spicy notes. The palate is fresh and dominated by fruit. The mid-palate is broad, and the juicy sensation runs to the finish full of fruit and pencil lead. This is a different take on Carmenere—one that is easy to drink.
The grapes were hand picked into 12-kg boxes by the end of February and the majority was destemmed and placed in a tank with a bed of 5% whole clusters. Alcoholic fermentation took place spontaneously at 22º–24ºC, and the wine was pumped over daily with gentle manual punch downs. The wine spent a total of 24 days on its skins in a vertical press. The volume of press wine incorporated into the free-run wine was a key part of the skeleton of this wine. It was neither filtered nor fined before bottling.
This wine was aged for just 16 months in concrete fudres and vessels. It is moderately concentrated, which will allow it to evolve for a long time.
