Description
Dunvilles is the famous old brand that was once made in Belfast’s Royal Irish Distillery. Sadly the distillery was one of many to falter in the mid-1900s and it looked as if Dunvilles had disappeared permanently. Fortunately it has been resurected by the Echlinville Distillery who are the proud owners of this historical whiskey and a number of other brands. This award winning single malt is aged for 10 years and finished in top quality Pedro Ximenez sweet sherry casks. Bottled at 46% without chill-filtration.
Aromas (without water) Apricots, grapefruit and toasted almonds open up to fresh green cooking apples, before warming to apple tatin, lightly spiced calvados caramel creme and a dark fruit compote.
Flavour Freshly picked green apples, fruit sorbet, soft orchard fruit salad, then raisins, figs and stewed dates from the PX sherry cask influence, and all while that base of sweet malt, light marzipan sponge cake, and that splendid candied orange grace note we have come to expect from Dunville’s releases.
