Description
30 year old single malt from Islay’s Bruichladdich distillery, released as part of their Rare Cask Series. It was distilled in 1986 and filled into Oloroso Sherry butts, then moved over to Pedro Ximenéz butt from winemaker Jan Pettersen at bodega Fernando de Castilla by previous Master Distiller Jim McEwan in 2012 for the rest of its maturation. The Magnificent Seven was drawn from just 7 casks, producing 4,200 bottles.
Nose: Worn leather and nutty dates, with a thick layer of melted dark chocolate.
Palate: Christmas cake, rancio, a subtle touch of sea salt, herbaceous tobacco and tangy citrus.
Finish: Continued Sherried awesomeness.
