Description
Domaine Huet was Founded in 1928 by Victor Huet and his son Gaston.
Victor was a Parisian Bistro owner who fell in love with this region of the Loire valley and it’s grape Chenin Blanc.
Their first site was ‘Le Haut Lieu’ and they added the 2 additional vineyards – ‘Clos de Bourg’ and ‘Le Mont’ in the 1950s and 1960s.
Gaston was obsessively focused on the fact that the quality of the wine started in the vineyards, which we now fully appreciate, but back then this was such a novel approach to wine making. This in itself makes the Huet family pioneers of the region and deservedly the most sought after winery in the Loire Valley.
They went fully Bio-Dynamic in the 1980s.
In 2002 the family sold the majority stake of the business and winery to a New York business man called Hwang, his family now live on the estate.
‘Clos de Bourg’ is one of the oldest Grand Cru sites in France.
100% Chenin Blanc, soil, clay and limestone with South facing Vineyards, long exposure to the sun, close proximity to the river, lots of morning dew, perfect conditions for Chenin Blanc.
A full bodied, very textured style of white wine.
Fleshy ripe white fruit, herbaceous note, white pepper with a creamy, full finish.
Such a treat!!
