Description
Discover the very first 100% Japanese single malt from the Togouchi range of whiskies, which have the specificity of being matured in a tunnel nestled in the heart of a lush forest.
This exceptional place preserves the whiskies from the brutal variations of temperatures during the maturation, thus transferring to their character roundness and balance which is expressed from the first smells with greedy notes of vanilla, and fruity notes of apple and orange marmalade. When tasted in the mouth, the fruity aromas persist with notes of dried fruit, and are joined by notes of brown sugar and fresh nuts. The experience continues in the finish with the appearance of rather spicy notes of ginger and Japanese pepper that invigorate the palate.
Created by Master Distiller Taihei Yamamoto, this single malt is a blend of bourbon and sherry casks from the Sakurao distillery, which opened in 2018 and is located on the Seto Inland Sea in the Hiroshima region. The distillery produces whisky for its Sakurao single malt, aged in the cellars on site, and for the Togouchi range, whose whiskies are transferred further into a tunnel dug into a small mountain range.
