Description
“Concerto” was born in 1981, as an effect of a viticulture with an unexpressed potential, experimenting new training systems and new blends, including also non-autochthonous varietals; it was one of the forerunners and also one of the top 10 players of the “Super Tuscans” phenomenon.
The Sangiovese comes from one fo the best vineyard in the lower part of Fonterutoli terroir called “Scassi”, positioned at around 350 m a.s.l. which benefits from perfect exposure and a rocky soil; with a good presence of chalk and very rich in background. Here the mass selection of Sangiovese from an experimental vineyard have been grown in the 1930s have been planted and developed a unique personality.
The Cabernet Sauvignon comes from a small vineyard called “Brotine” situated at 340 m a.s.l. and surrounded by an oak forest. This particular vineyard was chosen on account of its unique micro-climate and of its soil consisting of calcareous rock, considered particularly suitable to maximise this varietl’s potential.
Rich and juicy, notes of underbrush and black berries, powerful and fine. 18 months in small french oak barrels: Tonneaux (Sangiovese), Barriques (Cab.Sauv.)
