Complex, dark and earthy bouquet of ripe black cherries, enriched with notes of dried flowers, spices, crushed stones and a hint of animal musk. The palate reveals silky textures and pure Sangiovese fruit, underpinned by earthy tones supported by a network of minerals and tannins. The mouthfeel is always lean, tangy and soft, although you can feel the wine's full body and great appeal at all times. The final is polished and refined and lasts for several minutes.

The Brunello di Montalcino DOCG 2018 Le Potazzine finely interprets one of the great Italian reds, combining territorial identity, winemaking precision, and expressive elegance. Made by Tenuta Le Potazzine with 100% certified organic Sangiovese, it arises from an authentic vision of Brunello, capable of enhancing the purity of the grape variety and the personality of the Montalcino altitudes. It is a wine designed for those seeking structure, depth, and drinkability, without sacrificing a refined texture and a clear aromatic profile.

On the palate, the Brunello di Montalcino DOCG 2018 Le Potazzine is juicy, savory, and well-defined, with a harmonious progression that highlights freshness, depth, and precision. The structure is significant but not heavy, while the finish leaves a persistent and clean sensation, ideal for those who appreciate great reds with an elegant and long-lasting character. 14% 

100% Sangiovese

It pours a luminous ruby-red color with bright garnet reflections. The highly expressive, classic nose opens with a fragrant bouquet of wild morello cherries, sour plums, and dark raspberries, layered beautifully over secondary notes of dried red roses, tobacco leaf, leather, and a touch of wild thyme. On the palate, it is medium-bodied, remarkably linear, and savory. The juicy core of red forest fruits runs over firm, fine-grained tannins and a signature, mouth-watering vein of vibrant acidity, leading into a long, focused finish highlighted by a classic touch of chalky minerality and a hint of white pepper.  13.5% ABV

The Mazzei 2020 Concerto di Fonterutoli is a blend of 80% Sangiovese and 20% Cabernet Sauvignon from a cool vineyard site located at 350 meters in elevation. It is surrounded by thick forests on three sides. The role of the forest especially in the hills of Chianti is becoming ever more appreciated as we face hot summers and climate change. This wine remains focused and tight with wild berry, blackcurrant, grilled herb, spice and dark mineral tones. To the palate, there is plenty of sweet fruit followed by nicely integrated, dry tannins.

The 2021 Siepi is impressive. Blue/purplish fruit, lavender, spice, menthol and mocha are nicely dialed up. This plush, succulent Sangiovese/Merlot blend is quite the charmer, as it so often is. The 2021 is exceptionally elegant and polished, certainly one of the best editions in recent memory. All that said, my view is that Siepi would benefit from longer aging in wood and or glass, as it is released too early for a wine of its stature and potential.

One of the most talked-about modern Chianti Classicos, crafted by winemaker Sean O'Callaghan in Radda in Chianti. The 2023 is a pure Sangiovese expression made with organic farming and a low-intervention approach, emphasizing freshness, transparency, and drinkability.

Medium-bodied and energetic rather than powerful. Juicy red cherry and raspberry fruit are supported by vibrant acidity, fine tannins, and a distinctly mineral core. The wine is elegant and transparent, showing freshness and purity over extraction.
